Mappamondi is a light sculpture made of blown glass with hot decorations and metal base. Earth, air, fire and water. Horizon, Sapphire and Crystal. Red, Arancione and Amber Yellow. Sandro Chia’s luminous globes convey primordial power, catching and holding the viewer’s attention with their gravitational attraction. Mappamondi is available as a table lamp and a floor lamp.
Mappamondi lamps focus on the contrast between bronze and glass. The bronze embodies the manual, plastic work of the sculptor, while the glass acquires its form through the movement and breath of the master glass blower. The terrestrial bronze and ethereal glass combine to symbolise the primordial creation at the origin of matter, light and the world.
