Balloton

Balloton is a table lamp in hand-blown glass with the traditional balloton processing with a metal mold, for a cross relief effect. The latest re-edition features bright new elements, complex shapes and different uses. But it stays true to the Balloton technique, which lends a unique texture – pleasant to the eye and to the touch – to the glass surface: a rhomboid pattern etched with metal by the master glassblowers. This signature VENINI optical illusion is called Balloton: a unique process that recreates a quilted effect in glass. The “balloton� forming process is one of the most fascinating in the art of Murano glass making. In the most important phase of the process, the master glass maker has to blow the hot glass inside a special, thick metal mould before it solidifies. The mould creates the rhomboid shapes on the outer surface.
