The Charterhouse is a stacking bench and church pew made of the highest quality solid European oak from sustainable forests.A classic Luke Hughes design, the Charterhouse stackable bench provides schools, churches, cathedrals and synagogues with an ideal means of making their spaces flexible and, therefore, more versatile, in turn allowing them to make better financial, social, and community use of their most important asset - their building. Easily carried, stacked and set out by two people, these beautiful stackable benches and church pews can quickly be reconfigured or stored away using our bench dolly to provide clear areas for different activities. Clearing even a large church or cathedral nave takes just minutes. When budgeting it is advisable to allow for 1 pair of bench dollies for every five benches of the same length. Like all our products, the Charterhouse stacking bench is engineered for a 30-50+ year lifespan and is also designed to be refurbished, ensuring a service life measured in decades. Two different types of under-seat bookshelf can also be specified as accessories, but are factory-fit only. These do not affect the benches' stacking capability. Charterhouse benches of the same length stack 5 (max 6) chairs high on a Luke Hughes bench dolly, sold separately. Architects, designers and clients have the option to specify from 5 standard finishes and 5 standard lengths, with our 1-seater being available in either a stacking or non-stacking version. Further options include linking / ganging brackets, custom stains, felt or LDPE glides and removable non-slip cushions.
