Tonda is a pendant lamp that plays with the force of gravity and fascinates with its apparently illogical state of equilibrium: the support is offset yet supports the sphere, thanks to the counterweight given by the coloured and bent metal tube. It is gravity challenged, denied and finally explained by a design gesture as light as a game but at the same time as rigorous as a theorem. Stylistically, Tonda was born in the present but recalls the past in an elegant reinterpretation of Italian design experiences between the 1960s and 1970s. A luminous sculpture that is never the same, not even in the quality of the light emitted by the mouth-blown diffuser and shaded (from white upwards to transparent downwards). A light guided by the sensitive craftsmanship of a human being and not by the cold precision of a machine. Winner of Interior Design's 2022 Best of Year Award in the pendant light category, Tonda is a sculptural centrepiece designed to dialogue with contemporary interiors. Available in two sizes, it is characterised by a white, orange or titanium metal structure with a sinuous and geometric development that embraces and accommodates the sphere of the mouth-blown opal glass diffuser resting freely on the frame.
