The quintessential wood chair, Leggera marks one of the defining moments in the design and production relationship, begun in the 1950s, between Gio Ponti, Cesare Cassina, and the company’s artisans. The experience and skills of the Cassina joinery were put to the test in addressing the challenge of gradually paring down the chair’s frame – to craft the unique Superleggera slimline chair – emphasizing its essential lines while, at the same time, maintaining its strength and stability. The many combinations and singular colour contrasts between the structure and the seat upholstery and the padded backrest crafted from a separate cushion with removable upholstery, maintain the model’s contemporary vibe, making it an easy fit in any setting.
