Arne designed the Demijohn, an intuitive continuation of Vertigo Bird’s quest to take everyday objects and turn them into sources of illumination. The inspiration for the Demijohn stems from bottles
the largest and most deliciously curved ones were most often filled with intoxicatingly delicious liquids, diffracting the late afternoon light of lazy summer days and ending as a glint in the eyes of those enjoying the bottle’s contents.
The simple shape, consisting of two ubiquitous materials, wood and metal, appears to changes throughout the day and only fully reveals its true form once night falls. That is when the fixture reveals itself in a medley of soft, warm light on natural wood. The use of thin sheets of natural veneer results in every lamp being slightly different from the next.
