Information

The essence of Bauhaus teaching was based on the famous pre-apprenticeship of Walter Gropius and Josef Albers, a basic training of about one year in which students could experiment with colour, form and material without purpose. Josef Albers (1888-1976) was noticed for his artistic talent at a young age, so that Walter Gropius appointed him a junior master even before his journeyman's examination. From surface to space - this experimental approach was later one of the central tasks in Joseph Albers' Bauhaus preliminary course. The concentric circles of the Saturn lamp from 1926 are based on this preliminary teaching. Incidentally, one of his most famous students was Ati Gropius, the daughter of Walter Gropius, who constructively accompanied Tecta's work for decades. To this day, the three-dimensional sculpture of the SATURN lamp is created in Lauenförde from a flat, two-dimensional sheet of steel by laser cutting - the L61, still characteristically without offcuts.
