Information
The x+l 03 Table Lamp, is part of a collection of objects designed by Amsterdam based design duo Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel to re-cycle small blocks of wood that are produced as residual waste in our furniture production process. The wooden base of the lamp is made with these up-cycled teak blocks. Each block is shaped, curved and polished by hand prior to assembly, making it a labour and skill intensive process. The lampshade is made with an outer lining of hand-spun raw silk fabric and an inner lining of thin cotton fabric.
Finishes:
Wood Finish - We offer this product in a choice of Natural Teak, Dark Stain or Black Finish. For Natural Teak finish, the wood is sanded to smoothness and transparent wood polish and sealer are applied with a soft cloth to bring out the natural golden brown colour of teak. For Dark Stain, a coat of teak stain is hand applied to give the wood a darker, deeper shade. For Black Finish, the wood is sprayed with an eco friendly water based paint that leaves the grains and patterns visible.
The x + l Collection has objects designed by Dutch design duo Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel. The objects in this collection are inspired by x+l's interest in art and architecture, as well as their deep appreciation of simple honest materials and structures . If the legs of the Coffee table are a homage to Le Corbusier, the idea for the upholstered Modular Sofa evolved out of their interactions with textile maker Ravi Khemka of Zanav Home. Re-cycling and zero waste are central concepts in the design of some of the objects in this collection.
