Information
JAZZ is an off-beat take on the typology of the dining chair. A concentric construction principle sets the stage for a play between formality and freedom. Each of the chair legs takes its own stance depending on position and function – straight up to hold a backrest or breaking out angled as a front leg. And while the plywood backrest follows a soft curvature, the solid wood cross beams at the center seem almost overly strong proportioned. An ample seat encourages many sitting positions and provides generous elbowroom.
The most intriguing characteristic though is the formal difference between the two available models. The standard model has a common leg position, the model with armrests however uses an identical, yet 45-degree-rotated frame. That points one of its legs to the front, giving the JAZZ armchair its iconic silhouette.
JAZZ is handcrafted in partnership with a cabinet maker in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The molded plywood parts are acquired from a supplier in Lower Saxony. Our production partner works according to the statutory minimum wages and social security applicable in Germany. Local production, the short delivery distance of not more than 150km, the use of non-industrial production methods and environmentally friendly surface treatments result in an excellent environmental balance.
