Erno

Erno is an indoor and outdoor, modular pouf made of removable technical fabric. Erno is a tribute to the Hungarian sculptor, architect and desogner Ernő Rubik, author of the renowned jigsaw puzzle. Ernő Rubik devised the first prototype of the puzzle that bears his name in 1974. Today, almost 50 years later, the author’s best-known game of logic and strategy inspires Alejandra Gandía-Blasco’s new collection for the outdoor furniture firm GANDIABLASCO. ERNO adapts the concept of the indoor sofa to outdoor use too. It is a collection of versatile poufs upholstered in quilted, grid-shaped fabric, that are joined together to create different seating arrangements. The series is completed by other pieces identical to the poufs, but they are taller so they act as armrests and backrests. As well as providing comfort, these multiply the possibilities for building different environments. The new ERNO collection consists of two square poufs - 78x78 cm and 128x128 cm -, a rectangular pouf - 188x78 cm -, and three armrests in different dimensions that adjust to match each of the lengths and widths, providing a subtle extra height. Both the poufs and the backrest and armrest features are fitted with concealed legs and 100% recycled plastic joining systems that provide firmness and, at the same time, allow for the creation of all kinds of perfectly fitting seats. They are assembled without metallic structures, and are made from recyclable cork. Comfortable and versatile, the ERNO pieces are an elevated variant of the ottoman pouf that can be positioned alone or together with others. This versatility makes it possible to imagine options as varied as low sofas to chaise longues, and as ‘you and me’ sofas to hosting informal gathering areas of all kinds, both indoors and outdoors. It is a bold and constantly evolving collection that provides freedom of movement according to need. ERNO environments are characterized by their casual character and easy maintenance, as their exterior upholstery is made of technical fabrics, which have multiple advantages, whilst the covers are completely removable. The quick-drying Gravidry® foam padding is breathable and highly moisture-resistant due to its draining qualities.
