Eitie

Eitie is a suspension lamp of the lighting system designed by Tobia Scarpa. Architect Tobia Scarpa originally designed this versatile lighting system for a unique and scenographic wall installation at Ca’ Scarpa Archivi Ricerche in Treviso, previously the Santa Maria Nova Church, now part of the Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche. The concept of EITIE elaborates the initial idea of a simple bar of light combined in various configurations through characteristic circular joints. Today, this design has been developed by Cassina to recreate not only distinctive wall lighting but also a pendant, a table and a floor lamp, resulting in a complete collection of stunning illumination. Each piece is composed of two to three bars of light that can be connected in differing formations thanks to the circular-shaped black metal joints, embellished with silver details, that contain a sophisticated and innovative technology. These joints allow the bars of the table and floor lamps to be opened 30 degrees, both to the left and to the right, to create different effects, while the triangular shape is fixed. Each line of light can also be turned 360 degrees to regulate its position and brightness. A nod to the original project, a special finish has also been developed with bright red joints and gold details. EITIE, both a graphic and phonetic palindrome, is a tribute to Scarpa’s current age and reminder of the consolidated experience that the architect has dedicated to the design sector in his lifetime.
