Carpets in office spaces
Office space designers often use carpets as a tool to create an atmosphere of well-being, where the physical and emotional needs of employees are taken into account. Thanks to the variety of colors, textures and shapes, carpets can inspire staff and create a sense of comfort. As a design element, they certainly have an impact on what impression is formed about the brand.
There are several other practical benefits of using carpets in the design of office spaces:
1. Security. Eliminate the risk of slipping where necessary.
2. Ergonomics. The influence of the floor surface on the human body during walking and prolonged standing was studied. Softer materials act as a shock absorber and have a positive effect on people's gait.
3. Acoustics. Carpets are 10 times more effective at solving the problem of noise reduction compared to other floor coverings. They help to create a comfortable noise level in the room, reduce distractions and help employees focus.
In addition to the practical value, carpets create the aesthetics of the premises. This is one of the most interesting areas of work for us, which has been formed into a separate company - IC Carpet AtelieR. For more than 25 years we have been engaged in the production of premium handmade carpets according to Italian design, and here are the trends we see:
Size and shape
Using carpets of various shapes and sizes can help create unique, attractive spaces in which people will feel at home.
Layering
Designers continue to experiment with placing carpets on top of each other, combining colors, patterns and textures, as well as ways of overlapping.
Art form
Carpets are no longer considered static and flat. They can be used to decorate benches, chairs or sofas. And unique specimens can be used as wall tapestries.
Neutral and bold
For carpets of large sizes, neutral gray tones are chosen. If you plan to focus on the carpet, then bright and bold colors are preferable. A cool, muted shade of blue is also popular.
Handmade
Creative, artistic handmade carpets on an individual project speak about the passion of its owner for design and uniqueness. Such carpets are appreciated because of their history and a sense of connection with the creator.
The IC Carpet AtelieR factory is one of the world's largest carpet manufacturers using the technology of manual tufting and weaving. The plant's capabilities include a full cycle of work: design development, selection of the optimal composition of fibers, coloring, tufting, sculptural carving and finishing. Carpets help to functionally delimit the space and are most often found in the following rooms:
Lobby
Waiting areas and lobbies create the first impression of the company's brand. Create a warm atmosphere in which guests will feel at home.
Some useful ideas:
- Hang a carpet on a blank wall as a tapestry. As in the case of works of art, the middle of the carpet should be at eye level in a standing position.
- Use two carpets instead of one large one. They will be easier to move, which will provide greater flexibility when changing the configuration of the room.
- Choose a carpet of such a size that at least the front legs of each piece of furniture stand on it.
Cafe and bar
Create a family atmosphere for lunch with colleagues and guests, and carpets will be your best helpers in this. Consider options with drawings or an ombre effect, this will add an additional wow effect.
A couple of tips:
- Give preference to wool carpets, as their elastic fibers naturally hold the shape and make the carpet less prone to dents from the legs of furniture.
- Minimize the clink of dishes and the noise of conversations with dense carpets that absorb sound.
Informal spaces
Use poufs and small tables in spaces for informal communication. The ability to move pieces of furniture will allow team members to gather in groups for discussion. Just don't forget about the carpet - it will become an unspoken limiter for moving furniture outside the designated area.
Useful tips:
- Combine carpets with different patterns, but with a matching color palette, so that the space is perceived as one.
- Place the joint of the two mats under the piece of furniture to minimize the protruding edges.
Carpets add warmth, help focus, maintain comfort levels and help reduce noise. Create a harmonious space, form an attractive impression of your brand and corporate culture with the right carpets.
